Last fall I purchased a new 2017 Silverado High Country with the 6.2 engine and 8 speed transmission from a dealer in central Florida. It now has 6000 miles.
When I first start the car there is one clunking sound from the engine compartment, this only happens once even if the engine is switched straight off and on again this does not happen again. Many Thanks.

Mar 21, 2012 · Ok, so I have posted on here that I was having this clunk when I would get to the gas after a stop. Let me start buy saying saying I have wasted TONS of money and countless opinions and finally I have solved the problem. My chain of events... Trans goes out and replaced with a GM trans.
(ever notice that it is much easier to roll the bike back when it is in neurtal than in gear (engine running) well this is the reason) One problem that can happen with wet clutches is that the plates and disks can start to stick, which will cause a much louder clunk and a more pronounced jerk forward.

Oct 01, 2008 · Welcome to the site Greg. I had the ISS replaced on my 2006 2500HD as well a few months ago and the rattle/clunking is starting to come back again. I have read on other forums about the ISS being replaced 3 or 4 times but I have never heard of the steering column needing replaced (unless the truck was involved in an accident).
GM is also aware of the suspension and steering problems, such as clunking or grinding noises, steering wheel vibrations, or steering wheels locking up. Last year, GM became aware of 30 crashes and two injuries related to power-steering loss and recalled the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks, along with Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and GMC Yukon SUVs.
Sep 20, 2010 · Engine/Transmission mount most likely. The bushings in them get worn and eventually they clunk or clang on initial acceleration. If they're really worn, you'll wind up with a vibration at speed. Fact is we're all guessing. Take it to a dealer and pay the diagnosis charge if your shop can't find it.
